Bird and Bird has signed its third cooperation agreement of the year, this time entering into partnership with BTS & Partners in Turkey.

The Istanbul-based firm specialises in technology and media law, and has been informally working with Bird and Bird for several years already. The tie-up comes as Two Birds experiences strong client demand in the region.

"Turkey has proved a significant region for our clients, particularly those in technology driven sectors," said the the UK firm's chief executive David Kerr.

"We are very pleased to formalise our cooperation with BTS & Partners and delighted to be associated with a firm whose area of expertise closely reflects our core strengths and capabilities."

The announcement comes just a week after the firm finalised partnerships with two Indonesian firms, intellectual property specialists K&K Advocates and business law firm Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi & Partners (NSMP).

In February, Two Birds also entered Korea through a non-exclusive partnership with Hwang Mok Park (HMP), a Seoul-based firm.

Two Birds joins a number of other firms that have established a presence in Turkey in recent years. CMS Cameron McKenna launched an Istanbul office last September, following in the steps of Pinsent Masons, which set up a Turkish base earlier in 2013.

Other firms with associations in the region include Allen & Overy, which formed an exclusive partnership with Gedik & Eraksoy in 2012.
