Three more partners have left DLA Piper in Asia Pacific, with one transitioning to an in-house role and two others to rival firms.

Hong Kong and Singapore finance partner Ben Sandstad has moved to Standard Chartered bank, while another Hong Kong finance partner Jolyon Ellwood-Russell has made the switch to Simmons & Simmons and corporate partner Giovanni Marino, also based in Hong Kong, has transferred to US firm Winston & Strawn.

Sandstad joined the firm just a year ago from Mayer Brown JSM, while Ellwood-Russell was internally promoted in 2011 and Marino joined the firm in 2003 following a stint with the Asian Development Bank.

DLA Piper declined to comment.

The exits follow a string of partner departures from the firm in Asia Pacific since mid-2012 including practice heads and other senior lawyers, the most recent being capital markets partner Esther Leung, who joined Chinese firm Jun He in June, and corporate head Mabel Lui, who moved to Winston Stawn in May with three associates.

They coincide with some management changes in the region during the period; UK managing partner Andrew Darwin moving to Australia in January last year and a new US-led, three-partner advisory committee being appointed to oversee Asian operations in December.

According to DLA's website, there are now a total of 23 partners in Hong Kong and five in Singapore, although some of these partners split their time between US or other regional offices.

The firm also has branches in Australia, Japan, Korea, mainland China and Thailand.
