Legal Week today launches an ambitious survey that sets out to help law firms improve the technology they provide to their fee earners.

The Information Technology Survey asks fee earners to rate the effectiveness of the IT at their disposal.

It covers hot topics such as tablets, remote working, cyber-security training and collaboration software.

The results will allow firms to benchmark the performance of their technology, identify gaps in their capability and build the case for future investment.

A number of participating global firms are also using the survey to compare the quality of service across their international network.

Neil Cameron, of Neil Cameron Consulting, who advised on the survey, said: "The Legal Week survey is the most detailed and comprehensive user-based law firm IT survey and provides a unique perspective on how the lawyers at the coal-face feel about their firms' technology thereby assisting firms in delivering high quality and consistent legal services to clients. In this market, that is invaluable."

The best-performing firms receive a quality mark that flags the market-leading status of their IT to clients, who are becoming increasingly sensitive to the need for their advisers to improve the quality and efficiency of their service.

The survey will be in the field until 3 October. Firms wishing to participate should email [email protected] or call him on+44 (0)207 316 9042.
