Pinsent Masons is facing three employment tribunal claims from a former partner, senior associate and associate relating to redundancies  in its employment practice in 2013.

The senior associate's hearing is currently being heard at a Manchester tribunal, where she is claiming unfair dismissal involving maternity discrimination.

All of the allegations relate to unfair dismissal, sex and pregnancy and maternity related discrimination, with the other two claims expected to be heard next year.

The two week hearing for the senior associate began last Monday, and is due to finish this Friday, with further submissions allocated for an additional three day period in December.

A spokesperson for Pinsents said: "We can confirm that the firm is currently contesting an unfair dismissal claim made against it. As this matter is subject to ongoing proceedings it would be inappropriate to comment on the substantive issues."

"All we can say at this time is that Pinsent Masons prides itself on its reputation as an inclusive employer offering equality of opportunity. We could not function as a business without a diverse and flexible workforce, and we value and promote the positive contribution women and those with families make to our success."

Thirteen lawyers in Pinsents' employment team lost their jobs as a result of the firm's 2013 layoff round, the third since its merger with McGrigors went live in 2012.
