Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has launched a London competition practice with the hire of competition litigator Boris Bronfentrinker from litigation boutique Hausfeld & Co.

Bronfentrinker (pictured), who spent seven years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has represented clients in the English High Court and the Competition Appeal Tribunal. His practice also extends to general commercial disputes and managing internal investgations.

Quinn Emanuel managing partner, John Quinn said: "Antitrust litigation has always been a significant part of our practice in the United States. More recently it has become a growing part of our practice internationally. Adding Boris to our Competition team in Brussels and Germany will help us better serve our clients in both domestic and international competition matters."

Over the last year the litigation firm has opened a number of new offices in Europe and the US, most recently launching in Houston in August this year bringing its total office number to 17.

Bronfentrinker, who joins the firm as a partner, has acted for clients including Continental AG, Samsung and Visa Europe.

"Competition disputes are increasingly a global issue, and Quinn Emanuel has a truly global footprint that will enable me to represent my clients in recovering damages or defending claims," said Bronfentrinker.

"They have built up a formidable litigation practice across Europe in a very short period of time and I am looking forward to developing the competition litigation practice with my partners from around the network."
