Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan's London arm has been mandated to investigate the conduct of former directors of Phones4u which went into administration in September.

The litigation firm, which was brought in by the chain's administrators PricewaterhouseCooper (PWC) earlier in the month, is set to begin looking into the conduct of the Phones4u directors who could be the subject of legal action if found to have been in breach of their duties.

Quinn partner Sue Prevezer QC, who is leading the firm's team, is holding initial meetings with PWC in the coming weeks, with a lenghty investigation expected.

Quinn is the latest firm to become involved with the administration of the high street retailer after Clifford Chance (CC), Allen & Overy (A&O) and CMS Cameron McKenna were all mandated on separate aspects of the former chain's collapse.

A&0 is acting for PWC on the administration but the decision was taken by the professional services giant to separate the internal investigation and run an isolated tendering process to find an independent law firm.

A&O also advised PWC and Phones 4u on the sale of 140 stores to Vodafone, following the collapse of the company.
