Simmons & Simmons managing partner Jeremy Hoyland has been reappointed to lead the firm for a second four-year term.

Hoyland's term is set to begin on 1 May next year. His re-election was announced during the firm's annual partnership conference in Madrid.

Senior partner Colin Passmore said: ''Jeremy's reappointment as managing partner is very much deserved. He brings focus, rigour and determination to the role, and I am delighted he is looking after our interests for another term."

Hoyland (pictured) added: "I am naturally delighted to be re-elected for a second term and look forward to working with our partners and staff as we continue to make progress on our strategic objectives."

Hoyland, who is a finance partner, was first elected to the position in 2010 following a contested election against German head Hans Hermann Alderhoff. He replaced litigator Mark Dawkins in the role.

Hoyland has also held a number of other management roles at the firm, including being a member of the London management committee and member of the international executive committee.

He joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1997. He worked in the Hong Kong office as head of international finance from 1998 to 2001. In 2005 Hoyland was named as head of the firm's financial institutions sector.
