Legal Week has unveiled its shortlist of top client partners after polling in-housers at major corporates to find out their favourite legal advisors.

In a new addition to the Client Satisfaction Report this year, more than 1400 respondents, 80% of whom were from FTSE 100 listed companies, were asked to name the three client partners they most liked working with.

Across the top 20 law firms, more than 210 different partners were nominated by senior company legal staff as their 'Best Client Partner'.

The list of partners who polled the most votes has been narrowed down to the top seven, with firms represented ranging from magic circle heavyweights Clifford Chance (CC) and Allen & Overy (A&O) to mid-tier firms, including Addleshaw Goddard and Shoosmiths.

The shortlist of best client partners is as follows:

  • Jonathan Herbst at Norton Rose Fulbright
  • Logan Mair at Ashurst
  • David Jackson at Shoosmiths
  • Rebecca Williams at Addleshaw Goddard
  • Ian Stanley at A&O
  • Paul Maher at Greenberg Traurig Maher.

Coates heads up both CC's financial institutions group in London and its global insurance sector group. She has worked on deals involving the likes of Legal & General and Pearl Group.

Norton Rose corporate partner Herbst focuses on UK and EU financial services law and regulation and is relationship partner for American futures company CME Group.

As Ashurst's client partner, Mair is responsible for the development and implementation of Ashurst's global client strategy. As part of his energy, transport and infrastructure work, he was recently appointed to advise the Department of Education on the £2.5bn Priority Schools Building Programme.

Jackson, who leads Shoosmiths' technology, media and commercial practice, has run recent deals with clients including Telef
