Clifford Chance (CC) EU head of public policy Oliver Bretz is set to leave the magic circle firm after 15 years to set up an independent competition law boutique.

Clifford Chance (CC) EU head of public policy Oliver Bretz is set to leave the magic circle firm after 15 years to set up an independent competition law boutique.
Bretz (pictured) will launch his Euclid Law boutique in early 2015. It will operate out of offices in Brussels and London.
Bretz, who is based in Brussels and was formerly CC's global antitrust group managing partner, became head of EU public policy in 2010.
He joined CC's London office in 1999 from Linklaters, where he was a solicitor for two years. He was promoted to partner in 2002 and admitted to the Paris and Brussels Bars in 2011.
Bretz has represented Barclays on high profile mandates including advising the bank on the LIBOR probe, the EU interchange investigations and EU credit default swap clearing investigations.
He has also acted for Royal Dutch Shell on a number of deals, including its $4.4bn (
