Bond Dickinson has formed a strategic alliance with German firmm Redeker Sellner Dahs in a push to expand its international presence.

The deal is the first of its kind for Bond Dickinson and involves the formation of a joint mangement team with representatives from both sides.

Both firms will support clients with business interests in the UK and Germany and combine knowledge sharing, innovation and training. They will also run joint initiatives including networking events and seminars.

A six-strong management group, comprising three senior partners from each firm, will oversee the alliance. The firms will offer secondments to lawyers, paralegals and trainees.

Bond Dickinson managing partner Jonathan Blair said: "This strategic alliance demonstrates our commitment to ensuring our clients have access to the best service internationally. We believe our clients can best be served by strong firms with an excellent reputation in their own jurisdictions.

"Our two firms have similar cultures in addition to deep sector knowledge and technical expertise which clients find invaluable. We have already seen how well this alliance can work and we look forward to working together."

Bond Dickinson has been working towards international expansion since legacy firms Bond Pearce and Dickinson Dees officially merged last May.

The firm broke into the UK top 50 during 2013-14 on the back of the merger, posting revenue of £99.1m in the first set of financial results after the combination.

Redeker Sellner Dahs staffs around 90 lawyers across six offices in Bonn, Berlin, Brussels, Leipzig, London and Munich.
