Shearman & Sterling has promoted 13 lawyers to its global partnership, including two in London.

Investment funds counsel John Adams and arbitration counsel Alexander Uff will both join Shearman's partnership in the City.

The other 11 promotions are spread across the firm's offices in Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Singapore and Washington DC. Of these, New York gained the bulk of the promotions with four new partners, followed by Washington which added three partners to its office.

The Hong Kong base made up two lawyers while the Singapore and Paris offices promoted one each.

Broken down by practice, litigation received the most appointments with four new partners, while capital markets picked up three new partners.

International arbitration gained two promotions, while investment funds, tax, M&A and project development and finance each received one.

Shearman senior partner Creighton Condon (pictured) said: "Each of our new partners has demonstrated a commitment to our 'clients-first' principles and an outstanding ability to advise clients on complex legal and business issues. We know they will make important contributions to the success of our clients and our firm in the years to come."

The 2014 promotion round marks an increase on last year's firmwide result, when seven lawyers were made up, including two in London.
