Osborne Clarke (OC) has named corporate partner Greg Leyshon as its new head of business transactions, replacing incoming UK managing partner Ray Berg in the executive board role.

Leyshon (pictured), who is currently head of markets, was appointed after a consultation with partners in the practice. He will be tasked with overseeing more than 100 lawyers in the group.

The head of markets position, which was a role created in 2009 to deliver OC's sector strategy, will be reviewed in the context of the firm's key client programme.

Leyshon is set to take up the head of business transactions position, which is one of four board roles at OC, on 1 January 2015.

Chief executive and UK managing partner Simon Beswick said: "Our business transaction group has been hugely successful under Ray's leadership. Greg takes on the group in rude health and his experience of being in a role on the international board as head of markets will stand him in great stead to further drive the group forward over the next three years."

Last month former postholder Berg, who is also head of M&A and corporate finance, was voted in as OC's new UK managing partner, ending chief executive Simon Beswick's dual leadership role.

Berg, who is also head of M&A and corporate finance, has headed up OC's business transactions group since January 2013, while Beswick, whose three-year term as CEO ends in June 2015, has held the UK managing partner role for 12 years.
