Kennedys has added its first aviation partners in Asia with the hire of a seven-lawyer team, six of whom are from Clyde & Co and one to take the role of global practice head.

The firm, which currently has 13 partners across Singapore and Hong Kong specialised mainly on shipping and insurance, said the move was important for the expansion of its international aviation group, which is currently led by Aoife O'Sullivan out of London.

Partners Peng Lim and Anita Quy are joining the Singapore office from Clyde & Co in the city-state, along with four other lawyers; San San Yeap, Hui Yain Yeo, Hermanto Moeljo and Gareth Lang, plus four legal secretaries.

Lim, who acts for airlines, airports, aerospace service providers and insurance companies, with particular expertise in airline and aerospace liability defence work, has been appointed as the firm's new global head of aviation. Quy focuses on contentious aviation.

A third partner Sarah Catchpole, who joins from Norton White in Sydney and specializes in crisis management in the aftermath of major aviation accidents, will be based in Hong Kong.

It bring the global aviation practice to 50 legal advisers in total, also spanning the UK, Brussels and Dubai.
