Eversheds general counsel Angela Robertson has left the firm to take on the same role at Taylor Wessing.

Eversheds is not recruiting for a new GC, with the title to be phased out as elements of the role are picked up by other specialists within the firm.

The firm will instead appoint a new director of risk and compliance in due course, who will have overall responsibility for all compliance issues.

Chris Belcher, a litigation partner at the firm, has taken over as interim director of risk and compliance until a replacement is found. He also acts as the firm's compliance officer for legal practice (COLP).

Belcher is understood to have been set to retire from the firm before agreeing to stay on for the compliance job on an interim basis.

The firm's chief operating officer and former finance director Kathryn Fleming will continue as compliance officer for finance and administration (COFA), the firm's other main compliance role.

At Taylor Wessing, construction partner Neil White had been acting as general counsel with responsibility for all risk and regulatory matters until Robertson's appointment.Separately, Kevin Harris, who has worked as technology director for Deloitte Digital, which identifies and implements digital products that generate new revenue streams, for the last year years, is also joining Taylor Wessing this week as the firm's new IT director.

Kevin was previously technology director at Deloitte UK, managing the consultancy's technology projects portfolio, leading a team of 100 staff.
