Baker & McKenzie has hired a Linklaters corporate partner to join its Amsterdam office as part of a seven-strong intake to the firm.

The hires are the latest in a string of additions to the office over the last six months.

Linklaters partner, Henk Arnold Sijnja has joined Baker & McKenzie's Amsterdam office alongside two partners from Dutch firm Houthoff Buruma who are joined by a team of four associates.

"As a global firm, we currently see a number of opportunities for growth in the Dutch market," said managing partner of Baker & McKenzie in Amsterdam, Mike Jansen.

"There is growing demand for our services in transactional and energy-related practice areas in particular."

Sijnja has previously advised on cross-border M&A, initial public offerings, joint venture agreements, and reorganisations. His departure leaves Linkalters with eight partners in its Amesterdam office.

Houthoff Buruma partners Casper Banz and Mohammed Almarini both have expertise advising strategic and private equity investors on private M&A.

The recent additions to Baker & McKenzie's join former Norton Rose Fulbright partners Weero Koster and Marcel Janssen who joined in September and July 2014, respectively.

The new additions bring the firm's partner headcount in Amsterdam to 35, with over 200 lawyers in total.
