Pinsent Masons has held onto the top spot in the latest AIM adviser rankings, adding one new client over the period to reach a total of 61.

During the three months to 6 January 2015, Pinsents retained a 16 client lead over Carey Olson, who leapfrogged Memery Crystal into second place by gaining its 45th client.

According to the rankings compiled by Adrivers Rankings using Morningstar data, the most client wins went to Kerman & Co, who added four AIM clients to its previous total of 32, reaching sixth position in the rankings.

The biggest loser in the rankings was Stephenson Harwood, which dropped four places to end up in eighth position after losing five clients.

The rankings award a single point for each client relationship, regardless of whether it is a sole or joint appointment.

Charles Russell Speechlys made its first appearance in the rankings post-merger, coming in at 15th position with 26 clients.

Andrew Masraf, head of corporate at Pinsent Masons, said the firm had grown its PLC client base "as a result of the development of its international platform" such as handling initial public offerings for a number of Asian firms during 2014.

He added: "Our international practice has gone from strength to strength, not least in Singapore following the appointment of a four-partner team last year, and we continue to invest – as evidenced through the appointment of Osama Hasan, one of the best-known corporate lawyers in the UAE, in Dubai this week."

When just FTSE Aim 100 clients were counted, three firms came joint first with seven clients each: Addleshaw Goddard, Pinsent Masons and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co.

Among FTSE Aim UK 50 clients, Slaughter and May moved up into joint first position with Addleshaws, Pinsents and Osborne Clarke after it gained one client to bring its total number of clients to four.

Pinsents also topped the tree for consumer services clients with nine total Aim listed clients in this category, while Wragges dominated financials clients with 23.
