Pinsent Masons has significantly boosted its partnership with the addition of 29 new partners to its ranks.

The promotion round is almost twice the size of last year, when the firm made up 15 partners.

The vast majority of the promotions – 24 – sit within Pinsents' UK offices, with the remainder spread across the firm's Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Munich bases.

Eleven of the 29 promotions, or 38%, are women, with the round expected to take the overall female partner percentage at the firm to 22% as of 1 May, approaching the firm's target of 25% by 2018.

The promotion of technology lawyer Stephan Appt to the partnership in Germany is the first in the firm's Munich office since it launched in 2012.

The new partner haul takes the total number of partners at Pinsents past the 400 mark for the first time. The firm had around 389 partners before the announcement of this promotion round. The 29 extra partners amounts to a roughly 7.5% increase in the size of the its partnership.

By practice area, infrastructure saw the largest number of promotions, with 10 new appointments.

Real estate saw four new partners and financial services gained three, while technology and competition accounted for one appointment each.

Pinsent Masons managing partner David Ryan said: "I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to help such a significant number of our people achieve their partnership ambitions this year. All of those being promoted have made a significant contribution to growing our business this year and should be very proud of that."

In 2013 Pinsents made up 14 lawyers to its partnership, including three from the firm's Asia offices.
