Addleshaw Goddard has more than doubled the size of its partner promotions round to 18 partners, compared with just eight in last year's round.

The firm also promoted eight lawyers to partner in 2013.

Half of the partners made up in the firm's 2015 promotions round are in London.

Nine of the new partners are based in the London office, a further five are based in Manchester and four in Leeds.

However, the firm said that this regional breakdown was only nominal as several of the new partners were split across multiple offices.

Senior partner Monica Burch (pictured) said that internal promotions in growth areas of the business were a "key element" of plans to develop the firm going forward.

The 2015 promotions were spread across five practice areas: commercial, corporate, finance, litigation and real estate, which saw the most new partner appointments with six lawyers taking on partner status.

Commercial, corporate and litigation have three new appointments each, with finance promoting the fewest of the practices with two.

Mike Potter, head of the firm's Manchester-based transaction services team of paralegals, has also been made up to partner.

The gender balance of new partners was more even this year than last year. Eleven of the 18 promoted lawyers are male, while seven are female. The eight partner promotions in 2014 were all awarded to male candidates.

The appointments will increase the firm's total partner count from 171 to 189.

Last year Addleshaw promoted one lawyer to partner outside of the regular promotion round.
