Eversheds, Pinsent Masons and Squire Patton Boggs have all taken advisory roles on a deal to move HSBC's UK headquarters from London to Birmingham.

HSBC has agreed to forward purchase 210,000sqft at Two Arena Central in Birmingham from a joint venture between Miller Developments and Pro Vinci Asset Management, called Arena Central Developments.

The base will be the head office for HSBC's UK bank serving solely personal and business customers when ring fencing legislation that means investment and retail banks must be separated comes into force on 1 January 2019.

Eversheds took the lead role acting for HSBC on the deal. Work on the site is due to start on at the end of the month if planning permission is secured.

The Pinsent Masons' team acting for developer Arena Central Developments was led by Birmingham real estate partners Tom Johnson and Lisa Middleton, supported by legal director Chris Dewes and associate Lyneth Blackwall.

Birmingham City Council was advised by Squire Patton Boggs. The project will be handed over to HSBC in mid-2017 for occupation from early 2018.

Last month Pinsent Masons also advised on another significant property deal in Birmingham, acting for Persimmon Homes on a £100m project to create hundreds of new homes at the former Selly Oak Hospital site.

The instructions on a separate £733m property deal last month between developer British Land and supermarket giant Tesco went to King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) and Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP).
