Online payments company PayPal has appointed Nokia's former chief legal officer as its general counsel.
Louise Pentland had been at Nokia in various roles since 1998 and worked her way up to executive vice president and chief legal officer by the time she left last July.
The US-qualified lawyer will now be based in PayPal's San Jose office.
Dan Schulman, president and chief executive designee of PayPal, said Pentland would make an "immediate impact" as the company worked to take advantage of a "tremendous opportunity ahead".
Pentland, who is the first person to hold the role, will start in the post on 27 April. Her former role at Nokia is currently filled by ex-Tetra Pak GC Maria Varsellona.
PayPal is set to be spun out from former parent eBay this year. eBay has been taking advice from Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz on the deal.
Separately, BT's GC for consumer legal, governance and compliance, and regulatory matters, Nigel Paterson, has been appointed to the role of GC at retailer Dixons Carphone.
Paterson, who completed his training at Linklaters, has been at BT since joining the telecoms giant in 2000.
The appointment of Paterson follows a period of the role being jointly held by Dixons' and Carphone Warehouse's GCs, Helen Grantham and Tim Morris, following the merger of the two retailers last year.
Morris has already left the business and Grantham is in the process of exiting.
