Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson has hired banking partner Stuart Brinkworth from Hogan Lovells as its first head of finance in London.

Brinkworth (pictured), who has been a partner at Hogan Lovells in its banking group since 2010, specialises in acting for UK and international lenders, sponsors and bidding consortia on a variety of UK domestic and cross-border leveraged finance transactions.

Previously Brinkworth was a banking partner at SJ Berwin, which he joined from McGrigors in 2007.

He is expected to begin his new role on 1 September.

David Greenwald, chairman of Fried Frank, said: "Stuart will extend the reach of our finance practice to provide the highest level of counsel on sophisticated transactions in London and Europe."

Fried Frank made another high-profile appointment with the addition of Kirkland & Ellis London head Graham White at the end of 2014. He became the firm's first-ever London managing partner.

It also hired private equity partner Daniel Oates from O'Melveny & Myers at the beginning of this year.

However, Fried Frank lost its London head of international disputes, Nick Cherryman, who joined King & Spalding as a partner last month.

A Hogan Lovells spokesperson said the firm had no immediate plans to replace Brinkworth.
