Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has retained 83% of its autumn qualifying trainees.

The firm announced that 40 out of 48 qualifying trainees had opted to stay on at the firm.

It offered places to 43 (90%) trainees, with two of these turning down the offer.

The retention rate is similar to its spring 2015 intake where 85% of qualifying trainees remained with the firm. In that intake 41 out of 48 trainees accepted offers of employment with Freshfields and three declined.

Freshfields' retention rate this autumn is flat compared with last autumn when it retained 82% of its qualifying trainees. Of the 45 trainees, 38 were offered positions at the firm, of which 37 accepted places.

Meanwhile, Herbert Smith Freehills has announced that it will retain 92% of its trainees when they qualify in September.

There were 37 trainees in the firm's qualifying cohort, of which 34 were offered positions with the firm. All of the trainees receiving offers accepted.

In autumn 2014 the firm retained 87% of its trainee intake.

Of 47 trainees qualifying, 46 applied for a position and 41 were offered roles. All of those who were offered positions accepted them.
