Shearman & Sterling has hired Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer M&A partner and co-head of telecommunications, media and technology (TMT), Frank Miller, in London.

Miller, who is qualified in both US and English law, was appointed co-head of TMT in 2013, working alongside Brussels competition partner Laurent Garzaniti.

His start date at Shearman is not yet confirmed.

Freshfields hired Miller in 1999 as an associate from Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. He made partner in the UK firm's corporate group in 2003.

In Hong Kong, the firm hired former Kirkland & Ellis partner Stephanie Tang in March.

In London, Shearman most recently hired in July Jeremy Sharpe, former chief of investment arbitration in the US Department of State, into its London international arbitration team.

Before that, the firm also hired Ben Rodham in September 2014 as an M&A partner in the London office from Addleshaw Goddard.

Creighton Condon, Shearman senior partner, said: "With increasing M&A activity, we envision significant opportunities in London, Europe and globally to support our clients on their critical M&A transactions."

During his time at Freshfields, Miller led the team advising Spanish infrastructure group Ferrovial in 2012 on the sale of 10.62% of its stake in BAA's holding company, FGP Topco, to Qatar Holding for €607m (
