King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has seen another of its partners exit as tax partner Giles Bavister leaves for K&L Gates.

Bavister is the third partner to join K&L Gates' London office this year after IP lawyer Arthur Artinian joined from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in March and investment management specialist Jacob Ghanty joined from Berwin Leighton Paisner in May.

Bavister advises a variety of international companies, individuals, and real estate trusts on a range of property matters including acquisitions, disposals, investments and developments.

His departure from KWM is the latest in a string of exits over the last year.

In July intellectual property partner Ray Black and regulatory partner Gregg Beechey left the firm's City office for Mishcon de Reya and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson respectively.

In April KWM corporate co-head Richard Lever left to join Goodwin Procter and spearhead the growth of its private equity practice and in September 2014 former corporate chief and private equity partner, Steven Davis, left to join Proskauer Rose.

KWM undertook a partnership review across its European and Middle-East operations earlier this year, which is expected to result in over 15 equity partners leaving the firm.Earlier this month the firm unveiled plans to break its lockstep to help it attract high performing partners to join the firm.

The decision means the firm can pay more than double the top of its modified London lockstep and offer star names over £2m in remuneration.Tony Griffiths, administrative partner of K&L Gates' London office said Bavister was "an experienced, commercial, and well-regarded tax lawyer".

He added: "Giles will play a particularly important role in the integrated services that we provide to our real estate and financial services clients."
