Watson Farley & Williams has hired Clyde & Co's City corporate partner Nigel Taylor and Norton Rose Fulbright's senior associate Andrew Savage.

The pair will join the firm's London corporate practice as partners, taking the total partner count to 13.

Watson Farley has been on a hiring spree over the last year. Since the end of the 2013-14 financial year, Watson Farley has hired 18 other partners globally.

Notable hires include Fried Frank Harris Shiver & Jacobson partners Rob McBride and Sian Withey, who joined in June to launch Watson Farley's debt securities and structured finance practice.

In London notable partner hires include M&A partner Paul Doris who joined the firm in November last year from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, and real estate partner Ranjeev Kumar who started in April from Katten Muchin Rosenman.

Taylor worked at Clydes for five years and before that spent 19 years at Fieldfisher where he became head of the corporate transport practice.

At Clydes, he advised the government of Guinea on its $20bn (£13) Simandou South mining project, and on corporate aspects of the establishment of the £2bn Pensions Infrastructure Platform to facilitate pension fund investment in UK infrastructure.

Taylor is the fourth partner to leave Clydes in the past four months.

Last week, Clydes corporate partner Andy Tromans joined Willkie Farr & Gallagher as a partner in the firm's corporate and financial services practice in London.

In August, Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) hired Geraldine Quirk from Clydes as a partner in its London insurance practice.

Previously, Clydes head of corporate Philip Rogers left the firm in July to join Brown Rudnick, where he became the head of the firm's corporate emerging markets division.

Andrew Savage has worked at Norton Rose for just over two years.

Savage's practice will focus on cross-border M&A, joint ventures and private equity transactions, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and telecoms sectors.

Watson Farley London head of corporate Jan Mellmann said: "His cross-border practice, particularly his experience in the emerging markets makes him a welcome addition to our team as we continue to invest in and enhance our corporate offering and our natural resources and energy and infrastructure sector groups globally."
