Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) is set to see its second senior departure this year as its London-based co-head of arbitration Richard Power exits.

Power, who also leads BLP's energy disputes practice, is leaving to join Clyde & Co, though his start date is not yet known.

Peter Hirst, co-chair of the global arbitration group at Clyde & Co, said Power's hire would make the firm "better equipped to service" its energy clients.

He added: "The fall in the oil price has caused much disruption in the energy sector. Cancellation of contracts, coupled with geopolitical instability and growing regulation further increases the prospect of disputes arising."

Power joined BLP as an associate in 2001 from Simmons & Simmons and was made up to partner in the commercial dispute resolution group in 2010.

In December 2014 he was appointed co-head of arbitration alongside Singapore-based partner Kent Phillips to co-lead BLP's international arbitration group as the former post holder Nicholas Fletcher QC left for a role at 4 New Square.

A BLP spokesperson said: "We thank Richard for his hard work in 14 years at the firm and for everything he has done to contribute to the development of the litigation and dispute resolution department."

Segun Osuntokun, a partner and head of the firm's Africa Group based in London, will become head of the firm's energy disputes practice. Segun joined BLP in 2008.

Kent Phillips, who had previously shared the role of head of the international arbitration practice with Power, has become sole head of the practice.

The latest departure follows the announcement by BLP in June that former corporate chief David Collins would leave the firm after 20 years at the end of October.

Collins resigned after losing out to employment head Lisa Mayhew in BLP's managing partner election in February.

Earlier this month, employment partner Marian Bloodworth also left the firm to join Kemp Little. Bloodworth joined BLP in 2010 as a partner from Hogan Lovells where she was of counsel.

In late 2014, tax partner Cathryn Vanderspar and corporate partner Lisa O'Neill departed for Eversheds and McDermott Will & Emery respectively. In 2013, finance head Matthew Kellett left the firm and subsequently joined accounting giant EY in 2014.
