Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's Andrew Witts has been re-elected as chairman for a four-year term ahead of Wragges' tie-up with Canadian firm Gowlings.
Witts has already served two years as chairman since the merger between Wragge & Co and Lawrence Graham in 2014.
He was previously Lawrence Graham's chairman for three years prior to the merger between the two firms.
Witts was re-elected after a contest with one other candidate.
He will continue his role in the firm's management alongside senior partner Quentin Poole and chief executive David Fennell.
In July Wragges' announced that it is to tie-up with Canadian firm Gowlings in January 2016 to create Gowling WLG.
The combined firm will have more than 1,400 lawyers and 18 offices across Europe, Canada, the Middle East and Asia.
Last week Gowlings announced that its chief executive officer Scott Jolliffe is to step down ahead of the combination with Wragges, to be replaced by co-managing partner Peter Lukasiewicz.
Jolliffe will take one of Gowlings three seats on the Gowling WLG board alongside Lukasiewicz and one other. Fennell and two others will represent Wragges on the board.
Gowlings' London team have already moved across to Wragges ahead of the combination between the two firms.
The move has boosted the firm's AIM practice, particularly in the mining and minerals area where the Gowlings team had a strong client base.
The latest AIM rankings show that Wragges is now tied for top spot, in terms of number of clients, with Pinsent Masons.
