Cooley has hired Olswang corporate tax partner Natasha Kaye to join its London corporate team.

Kaye resigned from Olswang in April of this year and worked out her notice period before starting at Cooley today.

She has a broad corporate tax advisory and transactional practice advising on UK and international direct and indirect tax issues in relation to corporate, real estate, outsourcing and IP transactions and planning.

Kaye also advises on M&A, reorganisations, joint ventures and corporate restructurings.

She is the second person to move from Olswang to Cooley this year.

Private equity partner Stephen Rosen resigned from Olswang in January this year, and will join Cooley's London office once his notice period has expired.

Cooley burst onto the UK scene when it opened its London office in January 2015 with 20 partners and over 50 lawyers and other professionals.

Since its opening, other arrivals to the Cooley's London office have included life sciences partners John Wilkinson and Nicola Maguire from Reed Smith and a transactional team from Wilmer Hale, including compensation and benefits partner Paula Holland.

The firm's chief executive Joe Conroy has previously spoken about Cooley's plans for growth in London. In September he predicted the firm's London lawyer headcount would rise to triple digits, up from the current figure of around 70.

He said: "If we were just selling the same brand of fruit that other firms were selling, that wouldn't be that smart, but I think we have something unique to sell here. I don't think there are a lot of firms here doing what we do very well."

Last month, the US firm landed a lead role on Trinity Mirror's purchase of the remaining shares of regional newspaper publisher Local World.

Cooley is advising Local World with a team led by corporate partner Ed Lukins. Lukins is being assisted by the firm's UK tax director Michael McCormack and employment partner Ann Bevitt.

In October Olswang's entire Berlin office left the firm to join Greenberg Traurig. The firm has also downsized its Madrid office this year.
