Pinsent Masons has revamped its global board electing Munich corporate partner Rainer Kreifels and Birmingham healthcare partner Joanne Ellis to sit on the board.

The pair replace technology media and telecommunications partner Iain Monaghan, who has served his maximum term on the board, and Health and safety partner Laura Cameron has stepped down from the board to become head of the firm's risk advisory group.

Kreifels' appointment marks the first time a partner from outside the UK has sat on the firm's global board.

He joined Pinsent Masons in Munich in 2012. He was a partner at mlawgroup between 2007 and 2012 and was previously a partner in US firm Wilmer Hale's Munich office.

Ellis specialises in private company work, particularly private equity investments.

Meanwhile, construction partner and board member Alastair Morrison has taken up a new role as board member responsible for the firm's client strategy.

The firm also plans to add an external director to the board in due course.

Pinsents' senior partner Richard Foley said: "As well as being first-rate practitioners, Rainer and Joanne's appointments reflect the firm's desire to put an international, sector focussed perspective at the heart of our business."

Alongside Kreifels and Ellis the full global board includes senior partner Foley, managing partner John Cleland, director of finance Charlotte Beckett, partner and head of Complete Electronic Risk Compliance Richard Masters, construction partner Morrison, chairman of the firm's Northern Ireland and Scotland offices Kirk Murdoch and projects partner Catherine Workman.
