Ince & Co has bolstered its shipping team with the hire of TLT's head of shipping and international trade Duncan Bateson.
Bateson, who joins the firm as a partner, advises on super yacht and commercial shipping matters, with a particular focus on finance and building contracts.
He will be joined at the firm by Hill Dickinson associate Siobhan Silk who also focuses on super yacht work.
The hires are part of Ince & Co's stated aim to re-balance its business away from disputes, which currently makes up approximately 75% of the firm's revenue.
The firm has seen churn in its partnership in recent years and its revenue has dipped in tandem with a worldwide slump in the shipping industry.
The firm's global head of shipping Faz Peermohamed stepped down this year to join the Norwegian Hull Club as chief executive.
Earlier this week shipping partner Nick Burgess left the firm to join the shipping boutique he founded in July 2015 alongside fellow ex-Ince partners Bob Deering and David McInnes, called BDM.
In April Ince revealed that six partners were leaving the firm as part of a restructuring.
It has however recruited a series of partners this year.
In July it hired Gide Loyrette Nouel corporate partner Paul-Emmanuel Benachi to join its Paris and China offices.
In November it hired an aviation partner Will Cooper and insurance partner Jennifer Donohue from Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD), the UK government's export credit agency, and Locke Lord respectively.
The turnover in the partnership comes as the firm is discussing merger options with its partners, asking its lawyers to suggest possible merger targets. However, the firm insists it is yet to approach any rivals about a combination.
Speaking to Legal Week international senior partner, Jan Heuvels said the firm is also exploring other growth options including launching a consultancy service and he expects to see growth from the Chinese and Middle Eastern markets in the coming years.
