Hill Dickinson has re-appointed its senior partner David Wareing for a second four-year term.

Wareing was appointed by the firm's partnership after an uncontested election, his new term will commence in May 2016.

Previously he has held roles including managing partner between 1998 and 2005, and head of the firm's Manchester office between 2006 and 2010. He was initially appointed as senior partner in 2011.

Wareing, who is based in Manchester, became the first senior partner of Hill Dickinson not to be based in Liverpool when he initially took the job in 2011.

Wareing said that he was "honoured" to be re-appointed as senior partner and added: "The years immediately following the economic downturn have been extremely challenging within the legal services sector but at the same time have presented opportunities from which we are already beginning to benefit."

He said that the firm was "investing heavily" in "key strategic appointments" across its main sectors and said that there were "exciting developments already in the pipeline" for next year.

The firm has experienced tough times in recent years, with revenue falling from £111.6m in 2013-14 to £104.4m in 2014-15. The firm's profit per equity partner also fell, sliding from £272,000 in 2013-14 to £260,000 in 2014-15.

On Wareing's watch the firm has expanded overseas, opening in Monaco, Piraues, Hong Kong and Singapore.
