Restructuring partner Tony Bugg has been appointed as Linklaters' global head of banking.

He replaces Gideon Moore who led the banking practice from 2011 until his appointment as firm-wide manging partner in November 2015.

Bugg (pictured) has been head of the firm's restructuring and insolvency practice since 2007 when he succeeded current senior partner Robert Elliott in the role following Elliott's promotion to head of banking.

Michael Kent, the firm's global head of finance & projects said: "Tony has led an extremely successful restructuring & insolvency group though the financial crisis, working on some of the biggest insolvencies we've ever seen."

He added: "I'm confident that our world-class banking practice will continue to thrive under his leadership."
