RPC has hired former PwC partner Chris Carson as a partner in its consultancy business launched last year.

The UK firm set up RPC Consulting in February 2015 to offer actuarial and management consultancy services in the insurance sector.

Carson spent a decade working for accountancy company PwC up until June 2015. He led its insurance advisory practice across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) working at board level with companies including Direct Line, MetLife and Aviva.

Previously, Carson also spent three years as a director at Deloitte in the insurance consulting team.

Managing partner of RPC Consulting Rory O'Brien said it was "time to turn up the heat" at the firm's consultancy business.

He said: "With Chris in the team we will further develop our strategic advisory, our expense and operating efficiency and our transaction capability."

RPC hired O'Brien in February to lead the operation from professional services company Towers Watson, where he was formerly global head of risk consulting and software.

Carson's hire is the latest in a string of new recruits for RPC's consultancy arm.

In November, it hired the former general counsel of T-Mobile Julia Chain as director of newly created division General Counsel Services. Chain works with GCs in sectors from financial services companies through to manufacturing and retail.

Before that, the company hired former Worldpay corporate general counsel Matthew Griffith as a partner in October. In July, it acquired a consultancy business specialising in insurance risk called Marriott Sinclair.

The acquisition included three Marriott Sinclair principals – Alun Marriott, Mark Sinclair-McGarvie and Jonathan Broughton – who all became partners in the combined business.
