Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has ended its alliance with Indonesian firm Susandarini & Partners and entered into a new association with local outfit TNB & Partners.

The five year association between NRF and Susandarini & Partners ended at the end of last year, with the new tie-up taking effect from January 2016.

TNB & Partners was founded by former Susandarini partners Tasdikiah Siregar, Nadia Soraya and Benny Bernarto.

Siregar previously headed Norton Rose Fulbright's Indonesian banking and finance practice from within Susandarini. Soraya is a banking and finance partner while Bernarto works within the firm's corporate practice.

Following the move there is only one partner left at NRF's former alliance firm.

NRF's South East Asia head Jeff Smith said: "They were all partners at Susandarini & Partners, we have been working with them for a number of years and they have established their own firm.

"As far as we are concerned it is business as normal because 75% of the partners are the same."

International law firms are forbidden from having a formal branch in Indonesia, advising on local law or sharing profits with their local counterparts.

Norton Rose Fulbright is the most recent firm to make changes to its Indonesian practice.

In September last year Hogan Lovells ended its three year association with local firm Hermawan Juniarto. It is understood the firm intends to continue serving the Indonesian market and is currently putting arrangements in place.

White & Case has also made recent changes to its practice in the South East Asian country, forming an alliance in May 2015 with Jakarta-based firm Witara Cakra Advocates.
