Clyde & Co has continued its hiring spree in Asia-Pacific, bringing on board two partners from Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia.

Michael Tooma and Alena Titterton are joining the firm, with the hires coming after Clyde's 30-lawyer raid of Sydney insurance firm Lee & Lyons in December.

The partners have joined alongside special counsel Kiri Jervis and associate Sarah-Jayne Rayner, both from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Tooma headed Norton Rose's Asia Pacific occupational health safety and security practice, as well as leading the firm's Australian regulations and investigations practice and its government practice.

He will take on responsibility for Clyde's occupational health safety and security practice in Asia Pacific.

Titterton, also an occupation health and safety lawyer, works across both public and private sectors including energy, infrastructure and transport.

Clydes Australia managing partner, John Edmond, said: "We have an ambitious timeframe in mind to establish a national occupational health and safety team; early last year, we appointed special counsel Nicholas Beech in Perth and the addition of two highly experienced partners in Sydney and their lawyers will significantly bolster our capability in this key practice area."

Last year Clydes hired five partners as part of a 30-lawyer team from insurance firm Lee & Lyons in Sydney. The firm has also hired Melbourne partner Marcus O'Brien from Norton Rose Fulbright. O'Brien is moving to Clydes in March bringing with him associate Steven Donley.

In an interview with Legal Week last year, senior partner James Burns said the firm was looking to more than double its size over the next 10 years, setting out a bullish international expansion programme targeting the Americas, Europe the Middle East and Africa.
