Accountant EY's legal services division has hired Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's technology co-head, Richard Goold.

Corporate partner Goold will join the accountant as a partner in its UK legal services business division in the spring.

His practice focuses on M&A and private equity and venture capital deals in the technology sector.

Philip Goodstone, chair of EY's business legal services team, said: "Our ambition has always been to grow our UK legal services practice around some of the key sectors where EY already has a wealth of experience. Richard's appointment marks a key step towards achieving this strategy."

Goodstone was hired by EY in September 2014 to set up a legal business division. He joined from Addleshaw Goddard where he was the firm's head of corporate.

He has since set about building a team, hiring Addleshaw's former managing partner Paul Devitt and corporate partner Richard Thomas in May 2015.

In May EY hired Baker & McKenzie banking partner Steven Francis, Weil Gotshal & Manges London private funds regulation head James Gee and 10 associates to launch a financial regulatory practice.

Wragges is set to combine with Canadian firm Gowlings early this year.
