Mayer Brown has recruited two King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) private equity partners in Frankfurt, including its Germany corporate head.

Private equity partner Birgit Huebscher-Alt and Germany corporate head Julian Lemor are set to join Mayer Brown in the spring.

Lemor will join Mayer Brown as head of its Germany private equity practice.

Huebscher-Alt will join the firm as a partner. She joined legacy SJ Berwin in 2007 before the firm's 2013 merger with KWM.

Both Lemor and Huebscher-Alt focus on advising clients on M&A, private equity and joint ventures.

Their recruitment follows that of Perry Yam who joined the firm today from Reed Smith as London head of private equity.

In December 2015 the firm announced the hire of corporate partner Andre Schwanna, and two other lawyers, from Clifford Chance. Schwanna is set to join the firm in Frankfurt in April 2016.

Guido Zeppenfeld, partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown's German offices, said: "The new partners further strengthen our private equity competence on a European and global level."

KWM's European managing partner William Boss recently stepped down after just one year in the role.

The firm's chief operating officer (COO) Rachel Reid also left recently, joining Taylor Wessing as COO. KWM Australia COO Tim Finlayson has replaced her on an interim basis.

Both Boss's resignation from the top role and Reid's departure followed a five month delay in paying partners their profit distributions during the second half of 2015.

Other recent lateral hires for KWM include capital markets partner Bart Capeci who joined the firm late last year from Sidley Austin.
