Gateley Plc has doubled its number of partner promotions in the firm's first promotions round since listing.

The firm has promoted four new partners, compared to two in 2015.

Gateley, which became the first UK firm to go public when it launched on AIM in June 2015, has added partners to its Leeds, London and Birmingham offices.

The firm has made one promotion in its real estate department, one in private equity and two in its residential development unit, which focuses on acting for housebuilders.

Chief executive Michael Ward said: "Gateley Plc is in the midst of an exciting growth phase since our float, including our first acquisition as a Plc and opening our new office in Reading."

He added: "Each of these promoted lawyers has played a pivotal role in the success of the firm in recent years."

The firm has made seven partner hires in the past 12 months and this month it acquired tax advisory business Capitus for £2.72m.

In December 2015 the firm launched an office in Reading, its seventh in England.

Earlier this week Bird & Bird announced a nine-strong partnership round, tripling its number from last year.

Also this week, Watson Farley & Williams added eight partners and Ince & Co promoted two.
