Latham & Watkins has recruited Dechert City finance partner Jeremy Trinder in London, Legal Week understands.

Trinder joined Dechert in 2012 as a partner from White & Case, where he was appointed to the firm's partnership in 2010 after joining as an associate in 2005.

He focuses his practice on real estate finance, leveraged finance and structured finance.

In 2013, while at Dechert, Trinder advised a Middle Eastern-sponsored fund on the £1bn acquisition, restructuring and financing of Citibank Tower, Canary Wharf.

The same year, he also advised US financial services company Wells Fargo on its £2bn acquisition of a portfolio of commercial mortgage loans from real estate bank Eurohypo.

In the structured finance sector, he has worked with clients including Morgan Stanley, Rothschild, Lehman Bothers, Merrill Lynch, RBS, HBOS, HVB, Northern Rock, Kensington Mortgages, Money Partners and Paragon.

Richard Jones, chair of Dechert's finance and real estate practice, said: "We are sorry to see Jeremy go and all the many members of our deep and strong finance team in London as well in the US, who have worked with him over the years, wish him well." 

It is the latest in a series of hires by Latham this year. Last week, the firm announced it was hiring litigation partner Sophie Lamb from Debovoise & Plimpton in London. Lamb will head up the firm's City arbitration practice.

Earlier this month, Latham hired Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer competition partner Michael Esser for its Duesseldorf office.

In February, it recruited Clifford Chance private equity partner Simon Cooke and Freshfields counsel Amy Beckingham, who joined as partner, to its Asia base.

In January, the US firm also brought in Linklaters' Germany-based head of private equity, Rainer Traugott.
