Asia Transfer Window: hires for BLP, Latham, Skadden and KWM
Clyde & Co and K&L Gates have also made hires in the region

Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has made a high profile hire in Hong Kong, bringing on board Hong Kong International Arbitration (HKIA) centre secretary general Chiann Bao, who has joined the firm as regional counsel.
Bao, who has held the role since 2010, will be replaced at the HKIA by Sarah Grimmer, who is currently senior legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague.
Kirkland & Ellis partner Frank Sun has jumped ship to Latham & Watkins in Hong Kong. Sun, a China-focused private equity specialist, is the latest hire by Latham in the special administrative region. Earlier this year, the US firm made headlines with the news that it had added six partners via a combination of hires, promotions and relocations.
The firm hired Clifford Chance private equity partner Simon Cooke and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer counsel Amy Beckingham, who joined as a partner.
Clyde & Co has continued its regional buildup by hiring Hill Dickinson maritime partner Anthony Woo in Hong Kong.
Woo joins Clydes in September – his practice covers shipping, commodities and arbitration-related matters, with a focus on China-related disputes.
In Singapore, Pinsent Masons has made a double hire with the addition of Norton Rose Fulbright oil and gas partner Ashley Wright and Jones Day's energy counsel Steve Potter.
Wright led Norton Rose's Southeast Asian oil and gas practice after joining from Ashurst in 2011.
Norton Rose Fulbright, meanwhile, has hired Credit Suisse lawyer Colin Rice as a partner in Singapore.
K&L Gates added to its practice in Taipei with the hire of Baker & McKenzie partner Stephen Tan.
Tan is a member of the firm's corporate group focusing on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, capital markets and securities.
Berwin Leighton Paisner has made a significant investment in Hong Kong, appointing two partners and three lawyers from asset finance boutique William KK Ho & Co.
The two partners, William Ho and Jackson Chow, will move to BLP's Hong Kong office on 18 July 2016.
Three associates – Karen He, Clara Lam and Calvin Leung – will also join BLP, along with paralegal Victoria Li and three business services staff.
King & Wood Mallesons has hired two partners – Pinsent Masons TMT litigation partner Peter Bullock, and Anthony Wan from Hong Kong firm Links Law Offices.
Wan focuses his practice on IPOs, with experience acting for banks and issuers.
DLA Piper has expanded its China practice with the addition of of Qiang Li and Stewart Wang as partners in its Shanghai office. They both join from O'Melveny & Myers' Shanghai office.
Li, an M&A lawyer, has also taken on the role of co-managing partner of the firm's mainland China offices, alongside Roy Chan.
RHTLaw Taylor Wessing has brought on board IP partner Kong Seh Ping in Singapore. Seh Ping joined the firm from Stephenson Harwood's Singapore alliance Virtus Law.
In Hong Kong, Paul Hastings has lost its second capital markets partner in a month as Edwin Kwok moves to O'Melveny & Myers.
Last month, Hogan Lovells announced the hire of Paul Hastings' Hong Kong managing partner Sammy Li.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
