Osborne Clarke makes double partner hire from Irwin Mitchell
Real estate duo's exit follows Irwin Mitchell's first hire of 2016-17 into its real estate practice

Osborne Clarke has hired real estate partners Jo Footitt and Louise Cartwright from Irwin Mitchell in London.
Footitt joined Irwin Mitchell in 2010 as one of four partners in a 20-strong real estate team that joined Irwin Mitchell from legacy SJ Berwin in 2010.
Footitt's practice focuses on commercial property work, acting for developers, land owners, investors and lenders.
She joined legacy SJ Berwin in 2001 from CMS Cameron McKenna, where she was an associate. She trained at Manches before joining CMS in 2001.
Cartwright joined Irwin Mitchell in 2010 as an associate from legacy SJ Berwin as part the same group as Footitt. She made partner in 2014.
She acts for developers, property companies and occupiers, with a particular focus on the retail and industrial sectors.
Tim Simmonds, head of projects, real estate and finance at Osborne Clarke, said: "Both Jo and Louise are highly regarded practitioners with a track record of delivering strong results. We look forward to the contribution they will make to strengthen our real estate team, benefit our clients and grow our business."
Irwin Mitchell has seen a number of partners leave in recent months. Legal Week reported in March that London head of employment Chris Tutton and litigation partners Simon Ellis and Daniel Brumpton had all resigned from the firm.
However, an Irwin Mitchell spokesperson said: "We will continue developing our fast-growing business legal services (BLS) division, building on a very successful recruitment programme which has seen nine new partners join BLS in the last financial year alone, with a further nine joining other parts of the group."
On Monday, the firm hired its first partner of 2016-17 – real estate lawyer Martin McQueen joins the firm in Birmingham from Shakespeare Martineau, where he was a partner.
Irwin Mitchell merged with Thomas Eggar in December 2015, which added an additional 67 partners to the firm.
Last week, Osborne Clarke brought on board corporate partner Rebecca Gordon from Dentons, where she was a partner for seven years.
Her practice focuses on corporate finance and equity capital markets deals across the financial services, energy and healthcare sectors.
