Diageo is set to launch a review of its UK legal panel, with its current roster set to finish at the end of this month.

The drinks giant, which owns brands such as Guinness, Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker, last reviewed its UK legal panel in 2014.

After the last review, Slaughter and May, Addleshaw Goddard and Pinsent Masons won places as "general preferred suppliers", covering all advisory services in the UK outside of Northern Ireland.

The current lineup ran from 1 April 2014 and is due to end on 30 June 2016.

A spokesperson for Diageo said: "We will be reviewing our legal panel in the coming months and this process is expected to complete towards the end of the year. This is a closed process."

The previous review was led by general counsel Siobhan Moriarty, who took over the role in 2013.

In October 2015, Slaughters advised Diageo on a series of cross-border M&A deals with brewer Heineken.

Corporate partners Robin Ogle and Simon Nicholls led the Slaughters team advising Diageo.

Addleshaws acted for Diageo on the June 2015 sale of the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland to private investment company, Ennismore.

Andrew Rosling, head of the firm's retail and consumer group, led the team, supported by partner Adrian Collins on real estate issues.
