Al-Ansari & Associates was the recipient of the ACC Middle East Achievement Award, in recognition of the Qatar-based firm's CSR programme, dubbed the 'community empowerment initiative'.

Thanks to a policy of requiring lawyers to undertake a minimum of 200 hours of pro bono work a year, the firm has provided 5,800 hours of free advice during the past eight years.

Examples of its work include: advising migrant workers on their rights; conducting wills workshops, with content posted on YouTube in order to reach as many people as possible; and winning a landmark court case to enable a civil servant to receive his full retirement benefits.

The firm has launched a training programme for women in business, covering legal analysis and business development, and also provides free advice to the Roudha Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which helps women set up their own businesses.

The firm is also advising in relation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference, as well as providing assistance to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy in the run up to hosting the 2022 World Cup.
