Ashurst has announced that it is closing its Stockholm office, with its entire team moving to local law firm Hamilton.

Four partners and 21 other lawyers will join Hamilton from Ashurst on 1 July.

Stockholm office managing partner Jon Ericson and Stockholm corporate and real estate head Pontus Bergsten join finance partner Eric Halvarsson and competition partner Mats Johnsson in the move.

Dispute resolution and insolvency specialist Hamilton currently has 19 partners and 33 associates.

Ashurst will maintain a referral relationship with Hamilton following the move.

The closure of the Stockholm office follows a raft of management changes at Ashurst.

In the wake of the appointment of Paul Jenkins as the international firm's global managing partner, Ashurst rejigged its management structure with the introduction of a London managing partner role earlier this month.

Corporate co-head Simon Beddow, who was previously tipped as a likely contender to replace James Collis as global managing partner, has taken up the newly created role of London managing partner.

In April, Ashurst appointed Australia-based banking and finance partner Paul Jenkins as its global managing partner.

Jenkins replaced James Collis, who announced in January this year that he would be stepping down from the role after one term to return to the firm's finance practice.

Jenkins is currently co-head of Ashurst's global finance division and a member of the executive committee. He joined Ashurst in 1996 and made partner in Sydney in 2006.

Unlike Ashurst's chairman, the managing partner is appointed by the firm's board without an election.
