Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, DLA Piper, Pinsent Masons and Addleshaw Goddard are among 11 firms that have been appointed to Dixons Carphone's first legal panel following the £3.6bn merger of Carphone Warehouse and Dixons Retail.

DAC Beachcroft, Clyde & Co, Fieldfisher, Shoosmiths, Worthingtons, employment firm Doyle Clayton and employment lawyer David Woffinden have also won positions on the new roster.

However, Linklaters and Osborne Clarke, both of which advised on the 2014 merger, have both missed out on spots on the inaugural panel.

Linklaters acted for Dixons on the 2014 deal, while Osborne Clarke represented Carphone Warehouse and Freshfields advised Carphone Warehouse on financing aspects of the merger.

Dixons Carphone's panel review kicked off in December last year, led by general counsel (GC) and company secretary Nigel Paterson.

He stepped into the role in April 2015 on joining Dixons Carphone from BT, where he was GC for nearly two years.

Previously, the GCs of Dixons and Carphone Warehouse, Helen Grantham and Tim Morris, jointly headed the newly merged company's legal team. Grantham and Morris have left the business since stepping down from their joint-GC roles in 2015.

The review concluded in February and the panel is set to run for three years.

In a statement, Dixons Carphone said: "The appointment of this panel places us in great shape to support the combined business and its future growth. We're delighted to maintain relationships with a number of firms we've worked with for many years, while also establishing new relationships."
