bird-bird-Article-201607080652Bird & Bird has reported a 5.7% rise in revenue in the 2015-16 financial year.

The firm, which reports its financial results in euros, reported revenue of €343.8m in 2015-16, up 5.7% from €325.5m the previous year.

Bird & Bird also provided a sterling figure, which showed an increase to £273.8m, up from £259m in 2014-15. The firm used the same euro to sterling conversion rate as 2014-15 (€1.256 to £1).

Last year, the firm reported a 6.4% increase in revenue, from €305.6m to €325.5m, but in sterling revenue remained flat as a result of currency fluctuations.

Bird & Bird declined to report firm-wide profit or profit per equity partner numbers for 2015-16.

In a statement, the firm said: "This represents another solid year of improvement against the backdrop of market conditions in Europe that remain challenging, a continued slowdown in the Asian economy and the growing uncertainties of Brexit since January."

During the course of the year, the firm opened its 28th global office in Luxembourg, which focuses on IP work, particularly involving the Unified Patent Court, in addition to serving the firm's banking and finance clients based in the country.

The firm promoted nine lawyers to its partnership this year, across its office network.

Other firms to have released their 2015-16 results today include Simmons & Simmons which announced a 1.7% increase in revenue, to £295.1m, but profit slipped by 6.23% and PEP fell by 10% to £585,000.

BLP experienced a fall in revenue of just under 2%, from £254m, down from £259m in 2014-15, while Eversheds boosted its revenue to £405.5m, a 6.5% increase on the 2014-15 financial year.
