Shoosmiths is set to launch an office in Leeds, following the hire of two partners from Gordons.

The launch will give the firm 11 offices in the UK.

Employment partners Simon Robinson and Phil Crowe are set to join the firm from Gordons, to establish the Leeds office.

Shoosmiths chief executive Claire Rowe (pictured) said: "This exciting move into Leeds will enable us to access one of the largest legal markets in the UK outside of London, bringing both new people and clients to the firm.

"We plan to create a Northern hub of legal expertise for Shoosmiths' clients, with our Leeds and Manchester offices working closely together and [we] anticipate recruiting specialists in key fields including corporate, real estate and commercial disciplines to help us fulfil that goal."

Shoosmiths has not confirmed an exact date for the opening but said it is likely to be in late 2016.

The firm expanded to Manchester in 2008 and now has more than 150 people in that office.

It also opened in Edinburgh in 2012, as the result of a merger with Archibald Campbell & Harley.

The firm announced its 2015-16 revenue last week, posting a 4% increase in turnover to £107m and profit of £25.1m.

In May, the firm promoted five lawyers to its partnership, across its Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Manchester offices.
