Kennedys has furthered its expansion into Latin America by opening new offices in Peru and Brazil.

Fabio Torres, founder of local Kennedys associate firm Fabio Torres & Associados, is set to head up the new office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Torres will offer consultancy and risk management advice to reinsurance clients.

Alongside this new opening, Kennedys will continue its association with TM Law in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. TM Law practices civil, commercial and corporate law and has a focus on the reinsurance industry.

Kennedys' new Peru office will be located in Lima and headed by Marco Rivera Noya, who has joined the firm as a partner.

Rivera Noya joins Kennedys from Osterling Abogados and will be supported by associate Jorge Mere, who has transferred from Kennedys' Miami office.

The Lima office will focus on insurance and reinsurance, and have an emphasis on regulatory matters and claims that require international and local arbitration.

Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, said: "These are strategically important moves for Kennedys and add to our already considerable capabilities across Latin America.

Kennedys is looking to grow into jurisdictions that have high growth potential. In January, the firm entered into an association in Argentina with Buenos Aires-based firm Alberto Bunge & Asociados.

On top of this, Kennedys also entered into an association with Chile-based insurance law boutique Satler Depolo Diemoz Abogados in April 2015.

Alongside these associations and the new offices in Peru and Brazil, the firm also has associate offices in Mexico City and the Colombian capital Bogota.

However, the firm is not just expanding into Latin America. It has also has grown within the US and has opened a new office in Scandinavia. This expansion means the firm now has 24 international offices and 14 associate offices.
