Baker & McKenzie has boosted its German offering with the hire of a team including two partners from Taylor Wessing's Berlin office.

Corporate partners Thomas Dormer and Tim Heitling, who have been partners at Taylor Wessing since 2013, will join Baker & McKenzie's Berlin office on 1 August.

The pair will be joined by senior associates Claire Polte and Daniel Neudecker, who will join Bakers as partners.

Baker & McKenzie German co-head of M&A and corporate, Nikolaus Reinhuber, said: "With these two colleagues and their team, we are expanding our expertise in the energy and infrastructure sector significantly. With them, we now meet the sector needs of our clients even better."

Dormer regularly advises on complex M&A transactions and joint ventures for domestic and foreign industrial companies, as well as banks and financial investors. He has a particular focus on the energy sector.

Heitling also specialises in the energy and infrastructure sector and has a particular focus on transactions in regulated areas, including power plant and renewable energy projects.

Baker & McKenzie currently has four German offices – Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Duesseldorf.

The German legal market has seen a flurry of activity recently.

Last week (15 July), K&L Gates launched an office in Munich with the hire of a team from King & Wood Mallesons.

Banking and finance partner Hilger von Livonius has joined K&L Gates, along with counsel Philipp Riedl and senior transaction lawyer Michael Harris.

At the end of last month, Gibson Dunn also opened an office in Munich with the hire of two Latham & Watkins' Frankfurt partners, including office managing partner Dirk Oberbracht.
