General counsel (GCs) have become significantly more influential within their organisations during the past five years, according to research by Nabarro.
The firm's annual GC survey – conducted by Legal Week Intelligence and based on responses from 150 senior in-house lawyers – found 82% of GCs said their influence was "strong" or "very strong", compared to just 60% five years ago.
It also found that GCs said their work was increasingly made up of strategic and high level tasks. Nabarro asked GCs to rate their work from one to four, with level one representing high level strategic work and level four representing essential "bread and butter" work.
